Come live at Dreamfarm for a Nature-Based Community Adventure!
After five years as a venue for group retreats, artist residencies and creative events, Dreamfarm is turning over a new leaf. This year we are trialling living together as a tight-knit intentional community, in a vibrant residential village of around 10 adults. We are now offering the opportunity to rent a living space at Dreamfarm and be part of this exciting venture.

June 2022: We would love to receive your expression of interest.

We expect to have one space available soon!

About the Property
Dreamfarm is a 26 acre sanctuary in the Huon Valley, Tasmania. The site features rolling fields and sweeping valley views, veggie gardens, a young food forest, wild native bushland, and a pristine creek and swimming hole. The land is home to abundant wildlife. The property is shared by the residents of the main retreat centre building and a handful of neighbouring homes. Dreamfarm is situated in the countryside, 45 minutes drive south of Hobart.
The shared community residence is a large European style chalet; both grand and homely with great facilities. These include a large well-stocked kitchen, an eclectic library, a multi-function workshop space, multiple bathrooms, a piano and instrument collection and wood-fired central heating. We have reliable wifi internet, making it a great place to study or work from home.

Rooms Available
There are bedrooms now available for rent inside the shared retreat building for rest of 2022. Shorter stays also considered. If the residential community trial is successful, accommodation will be available longer term. Rooms can come fully furnished or unfurnished. Bathrooms and other living areas are shared.
Rent is $160 per week for individuals or $190 for couples. This price includes electricity use, water, and wifi internet – firewood for heating is not included.

Who are the Dreamfarm people?
At present, the community is comprised of a bunch of creative, fun, down-to-earth people in their late 20s and 30s, plus a much loved border collie.
Occupations include a music teacher, a yoga instructor, a science teacher, a carpenter, a renewable energy analyst, a mushroom farmer and a librarian. The village shares weekly dinners, weekly community meetings, site work projects, yoga and other activities together. We also host artists in residence and other short term guests from time to time.

What are our values?
Dreamfarm aims to be an incubator for creative exploration and social evolution towards a regenerative culture. Our village aspires to lives rich in meaning, shaped by curiosity and creativity, shared and celebrated in alignment with the natural world. We value respect, open communication and cooperation, and responsibility and care for ourselves, our community and our planet.

Who are we seeking?
You are a creative, active person or couple, with a reverence for the natural world and useful skills to share. You are community-minded and are excited about sharing space and collaborating with other passionate individuals. You are sociable, considerate and responsible. This opportunity is suitable only for people without children or pets. You will need to be able to financially support yourself whilst living in rural Tasmania and also have some time and energy to contribute to Dreamfarm village life and landcare.

If this sounds like the place for you - please send your expression of interest through our webform. We look forward to getting to know you!
